Rare Wildflowers of the Pine Barrens

                                                                                

                        

The Swamp Pink Lily, Helonias bullata, is a federally protected member of the lily family although there are no other lilies quite like it. It is found in wetlands and blooms in early April. Southern New Jersey contains nearly %70 of known populations, representing the global stronghold of the species.
