The Crane Fly Orchid, Tipularia discolor, is named after the Crane Fly which its flower resembles. It grows in rich woods in the southern edge of the Pine Barrens in Cape May County and blooms in August. It produces one leave in the fall which withers before the flowers appear in late summer.
